What to Do on Koh Phangan?

The Gulf of Thailand boasts stunning coral reefs and a huge variety of marine life!

Koh Phangan is surrounded by a huge coral reef and lagoons of clear shallow water, making it a lovely place for snorkeling. You will encounter all kinds of soft and hard corals, fish and more!  Many local companies offer guided trips around Koh Phangan in long tail boats that will take you to all the hidden bays - to snorkel, swim and a relax on the beach.

If you want to go deeper and explore the wonders of the sea, we recommend that you contact H2O Scuba diving school. Their professional team will take you to the best dive sites in the Gulf! Whether you're an experienced scuba diver or a beginner, you will be amazed! You might even have the chance to meet a whale shark - these gentle giants often make an appearance at Sail Rock; one of the prime dive sites visited by most dive centers daily.

Scuba Diving & Snorkelling

Another wonderful site to visit on a day trip is Ang Thong National Marine Park, an archipelago of 42 islands located about an hours boat ride away from Koh Phangan. "Ang Thong" translates as "golden bowl". The limestone islands which rise from the sea as dramatic rock cliffs are breathtaking! You will have an unforgettable day exploring caves, lagoons, white sand beaches and snorkeling among the shallow coral gardens.

Explore the island!

One of the best way to explore Koh Phangan is, without a doubt, by hiring a car or a scooter! Most of the island is still covered by thick jungle or coconut tree plantations - but there are plenty of paved roads to take you to the most popular beaches, and some little dirt tracks to make you feel like you are on a real safari!

However, be aware that Koh Phangan is not the place to learn to ride a scooter. The roads can be slippery because of the sand and riding on the narrow hills can be a little tricky for inexperienced riders.

The safer and most convenient option for a group or family is to rent a car. "Noi Village"  has the only car rental  business  offering fully comprehensive insurance in Thong Nai Pan (Noi Village Car Rental). Please contact us for more information or to book your vehicle.

Be Adventurous!
Yoga & Meditation

For over 10 years, Koh Phangan has been a major destination for the practice of yoga & meditation. Yogis from all around the world converge on the island to deepen their knowledge and meet like minded people.

Numerous yoga studios and retreats have appeared in recent years offering everything from beginner courses, detox, yoga teacher training.

Are you the adventurous type and want to explore the jungle by foot? No problem! You will find numerous trekking routes, especially on the eastern coastline, that links up secluded beaches, waterfalls and coves. For a real challenge - head to the middle of Koh Phangan and climb Khao Ra, the tallest mountain on the island!

Another fun and active way to see what the island has to offer is by bicycle! Phangan Bicycle Tours offers biking adventures to suit everyone! Quiet roads, countryside jungle trails, friendly village people and rarely visited sights make these tours unique and give you an insight into the local's life on Koh Phangan.
